Da, da, da, da.......

So we Rehearsed last night ...

It's now 4am, and I finally just gave up and got up. This actually happens frequently to me, always about 3:45am. Sometimes I can fall back to sleep, and when there is too much on my mind-- I can't.

So-- time to start posting some pics (if only I could figure out how to slip over to get my mom's SD card- she took TONS of pictures).

Yesterday started with getting my dad and Thomas over to pay golf. Kelly was still out with his friends from his bachelor party the night before, and my siblings parents and I were getting a little breakfast and talking about the day. The "to do" list was dwindled down to close to nil but there were still a few errands us gals were going to run. So for 2 hours, we ran around doing those, grabbed a small bite to eat and got ready to go to the rehearsal-- which of course instead of being early I arrived just in the nick of time for ;) Typical Mandy.

However, then there was a lot of talking, some lining up and some walking, more talking and then ......BOOM! .........It was over.

We had two hours before the dinner and the guys were heading over to get their tuxes. Now- I don't want to blog all of my faults, mistakes and downfalls- so suffice it to say, I tensed up and was not exactly patient with myself getting my parents over to the correct parking lot for the tuxes. (insert apology to parents, siblings & daughter for having to listen to me gripe & get upset about something stupid)

I did get to see Kelly right before he took his tux back off and I am pleasantly surprised that I do think his choice not only does look nice, he looks fabulous and the choice honestly fits him to a T. Love it! :)

However, 2 more stops and then Emily & I (with Kaileigh of course! :) ) headed over to Piccolo's in Denver to set up for the rehearsal dinner. They had the tables just about ready, so we laid out the packages, placed the menus around the room (in alternating colors of course) and then I asked Emily to take Kaileigh to the car (for what I don't remember) and to be slow so I could just have a moment to catch my breath, regather, and relax. (I also asked the server for what has become my signature drink- Rasberry vodka with soda water). I sat down and thought- "how did that happen?" I wanted to get there and introduce our families, say hi to everyone and somewhere it all just raced by and although I do remember walking with Kelly, listening to Dan and Liza about how the flow and process would go.... it was just "over"-- just like that!

So I have now concluded that rehearsals are less about making sure everyone knows where to stand and when to go where and more for the bride and groom to go, "okay.... this can't happen on W Day... we have to step back, take it in, notice what's going on around us and the significance of it and just enjoy."

The planning is done, the setting up is done (well kinda)... today is spa day with my sister's, new sister in law and mother in laws and I need to relax, create and cherish the memories and DELEGATE. Anything I can delegate, delegate. So that on W Day, I just watch, take part & enjoy -- and REMEMBER :)

From my soon to be, other half's point of view, he's been doing fine. He's enjoying having his 2 best friends back in town to spend time with them and feels like he is ready --- of course, he's just ready for life to go back to normal. :) However, I asked him how he was doing when we were sitting at the dinner and he said "well, it felt really weird all of a sudden when we were up there but I'm fine". Kelly doesn't like all eyes on him so that doesn't help, but I do wonder what else is going through his head that better describes "felt really weird".

From Kaileigh's point of view, she couldn't be happier. Completely a carbon copy of me, the more friends and family she can be surrounded by the better. She has been helpful and patient while being drug all over town, she behaved wonderfully at the rehearsal and had a great time playing with Hudson at the dinner. And now, her gift was a camera I found for her-- a pink Kodak I got on ebay. I haven't seen her face light up like that for a LONG time. She was so excited and I got a HUGE hug and thank you. When I tucked her into bed later that night she said "Look Mom! Look where I hung my camera (look to the hook with her hiking backpack) so when we go on hikes I'll be all ready to take it with me and take pictures!" Um...sweetie, I think you have a little wait before we go hiking and may want to use it in the next few days... ;)
Here are other memories of things said etc I'd like to keep-- I'll have to come back and edit as more come to mind as well:

At the tux place, trying to snag a few pics of the guys trying on tuxes:

*Me: click click click
*Camera: Memory card is full
*Me: What?!....... Emily- your job while I'm driving is to sit and delete pictures off this memory card
*Emily: Why do you still have pictures on here from March? Do you need pictures from March?
--- No I really don't-- I have NO IDEA why I don't delete them off the SD cards????---

*Me: Wilbur, Kelly thought you would like to say the prayer, just a little blessing over the meal tonight, at the rehearsal dinner.
*Wilbur: Oh, no, I'd really rather not... (and I think he said a little more)
( I know Brenda said something here too but I can't recall )
*Me: See! I know you better than your own son. I toldhim "Kelly, I don't think your dad would want to do that and my dad would be happy to do it both at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Kelly said, 'but my dad can speak in front of people, he is County Commissioner'.
*Brenda: Yes, would Kelly want to get up and speak? (pause while I'm going-- NO!) Well, neither would Wilbur. He can but he'd prefer not to.
----- Those Henry boys are just not public speakers....

Lead's me to my next:
*Me: Kelly we should get up and say something, thank everyone, introduce everyone...
*Kelly: No, do I have to..you do it.
*Me: Ok, well at least just stand up with me
*Kelly: No...really? Can't you just do it?
-- and then I stood up and did it all...and when we started to give our gifts out, I said a few more things and did make him stand up and come with me to the table (which I then noticed after he walked his parents their gifts he stayed in the BACK CORNER again for a bit...gheesh...) Kelly did add "Thanks" to the thank you part of the moment... So funny.

In saving the gifts for the kids until last:
They had been excited all evening that there were presents on the table. Kai wasn't even sure if there was one for her, so she just pointed Hudson's out to him. I've already expained how excited Kai was to get her camera and Hudson was just as ecstatic about his transformers. He held them, one in each hand, outstretched to his sides saying "yeahhhh!!!" in the voice only little Hudson Bear can do! He also did a fabulous job today as ring bearer and is going to look SO adorable in that tux!!
I guess this post is long enough..... More long posts to come sometime later... Since we leave Tuesday, maybe I'll find some time Monday to log back on in the evening or something... I'll then be going without internet or phone for 5 full days...however will I survive? ;)
**PS- please check our website for all the photos as I continue adding.
