Girl Scouts

Since Kai started Kindergarten last year, she learned about Girl Scouts and has been asking me if she can join. Not ever being a Girl Scout myself, and with all we had going on already, I just never got around to even finding out how I would get her signed up. Well, thanks to a mom in her class, I got an email today about a group they are starting which will meet once a month (thank goodness b/c we have a LOT going on already), on Thursday nights (perfect because that is one of my week-nights with Kai), for $70 for the year (which her dad agreed to split the cost of with me), in October (perfect because we haven't missed any and the wedding is over!). I got the details, contacted her dad, got the ok and was excited to come home and share the good news with Kai.

Me: Guess what Kai- I have something exciting for you!

Kai: What?!?

Me: Well guess...it's about something you've been wanting to join for a long time....

Kai: GIRL SCOUTS?!?!

(she knew RIGHT away-- hilarious)

Me: Yes; if you can continue on your best behavior, your dad and I have agreed to let you join.

Kai: YESSSSSSS!!!!

So starting Oct 15th Kai will learn the ways of the Daisies before moving on to Brownies next year (assuming she wants to return) and then on to Girl Scouts. I remember in elementary school the girls who were wearing the little brown outfits and wanting to be part of whatever that was. I was not allowed for whatever reason, but think I would have really enjoyed it as much as I love the outdoors. Also from what I understand it's very service oriented and since Kai leans on the "spoiled brat" side, this could be really good for her!

Get that cookie money ready!! Hahaha....
