Chapter 1: 9/20/09, 3:45ish PM
It started to drizzle so the girls came in, played, we ate dinner and Kaileigh said, "Mommy, please can I go ride my bike again? Please?! It is SO fun!!" So, it was dusk and we had about 10 minutes that she could probably go ride so I took her out again and she did NOT want to come in.
And now we need to work on watching where we're going and when a car is coming, we don't turn TOWARDS the middle of the rode and the oncoming car, we move to the SIDE of the rode! Give Mommy a heart attack already!!
Chapter 2: The evening is concluding.... 9/20/09 7:30PM
As if that wasn't enough for the night, I had told Kaileigh when she came over here on Wednesday to start our 5 days straight together that her (VERY VERY VERY) loose tooth was coming out before she left. She could bend it flat down and for weeks the new tooth has already been in behind it (we are going to have MAJOR orthodontic bills... :( ) So before bed, I reminded her and OH MY GOSH did I have a fit on my hands!! I thought we'd resorted back to being 3 years old with temper tantrums, wailing arms, screaming, kicking...! Ugh!
I felt SO mean, but it really needed to come out, and really-this is the 8th tooth she's lost! She should be a pro by now. She was convinced it was going to hurt so bad-- which it couldn't have as loose at it was. FINALLY, after about 20 minutes I had calmed her down, talked her through it and let her work on wiggling it out- of course she was touching it like a delicate leaf you don't want to damage, not a tooth that just needs a little extra encouragement. It's now passing bed time, so I told her "Look, I am going to wiggle this, it's going to come out easy and then the Tooth Fairy will come tonight!" She was not happy, but let me do and and of course the tooth came out. BUT-- in the process, it got stuck in front of one of the other teeth and blood was coming out (not a lot but you know how mouths are) and she starts SCREAMING!!! This is a child who'd been bit between the eyes two different times by dogs and she is SCREAMING because of a tooth! I talk to her assuring her she is fine as she comes with me into the bathroom screaming and shaking ...oh it was awful. However, I couldn't help but laugh-- as a kid, the second my tooth could move I was sitting on the sink in the bathroom yanking until blood was everywhere and that tooth was O-U-T out!
I send her back into her room to get her jammies on, call her dad and decide to video tape this experience in which she tells me she had "The MOST MISERABLE DAY!!" Lol... I know I'm mean, but I am laughing at her as she keeps up this fit...I know she must have been really tired, so bad timing on my part- shame on me for not starting this hours before....
After calming her down again, we discussed the tooth and putting it under her pillow etc. And the tears start AGAIN because apparently she read a book at school that if the Tooth Fairy comes and your tooth is dirty she leaves you nothing and drops your tooth down a pipe...hahaha?! What?! What story is that? So I bring it back down off her bed (she has a lofted bed) and brush it best I can (there was blood in the inside) and we then put it under the bed.
Finally we get settled enough to finish our bedtime routine...and all is quiet....ahhhhh....
Unfortunately the story doesn't end here though!
Chapter 3: Caught? 9/21/09 5AM
5am rolls around, time for me to get up & GUESS WHAT?! I went to bed without playing Tooth Fairy! Her 7th tooth came out at her dad's house and there was a bad storm so the Tooth Fairy "couldn't make it" (aka, they forgot too) so she had a make up night the next evening. I figured, 5am, I've just made it. Well- I BARELY got finished and she stirred and I hear
Kai: Mama??
Me: ...nothing...silence, trying to hide under her bed....
Kai: Mama????
Me: yes Kai?
Kai: What are you doing?
Me: (think quick!) I was just checking on you to see how you're feeling before I start my work
Kai: oh..I feel ok. I haven't even slept all night, can I come in your bed?
Me: How about I curl up in yours... (Whew!....Climb up in the bed) Kai are you mad at Mommy?
Kai: No...I love you. I just didn't want to pull my tooth out....
She was happy to find about 5:45 that the Tooth Fairy had come leaving 2 shiny "Gold dollars" and rolled over to go back to sleep where she is peacefully now.
And Kelly doesn't want one of his own?? After the screaming her endured last night I can't figure out why?? hahaha
