Goodbye Kindergarten....

(<--First Day) (Last Day-->)
Tomorrow is Kaileigh's last day of Kindergarten....I guess it's been about 11 months since she started (since we're on track sytem) so really I got more of Kindergarten than a lot of mom's. Someone asked me today why this would be harder than Pre-School. Kindergarten is big kid school etc- and that is true...but they're still little. They "act like Kindergartners". They come in not being able to read (now I have to watch every word she sees!!) Now we talk about how you act in the lunch room-- how you "act like a 1st grader". There is just something, once again, about her not being little...I'm going to be a wreck when she is turns 12!!

I had the opportunity to create their DVD year in review with different parent's pictures. It actually turned out to be much more work than I bargained for but hopefully everyone likes the result. I like the result so that's a good start! When I took it in today to test it for tommorrow's "special me" celebration, I got to look at all that she has accomplished this year and get a sneak peak at the little show for tomorrow. I've already packed my hankerchief....

When she started she recognized very few words and was doing a great job sounding things out so she could write. Although it looked like this:

"I. em. PLeA renoueF mY FRReNS. ANd SANe Dey "

Interpreted: "I am play (????) my friends and a sunny day"

Or

"I FeAY NDMY FReAVR PuPPY HIS NEAMiSPuppY I LovE Him"

Interpreted: "I found my favorite puppy. His name is Puppy. I love him."

She has made so many friends- in her class and older kids in the school, she started spanish, loves art, has decided she wants to be a singer/composer-- although she doesn't get the word composer- she just wants to write her own music-- she has mastered the monkey bars, learned to pump her legs, loves to write in her diary and journal about things in her life, and truly cared for and befriended a girl who has downsydrome in her class. Although I miss the cute pudgy baby stages, I am so greatful I've created memory books of those years, because I wouldn't trade the little girls she has become for anything! Her love to giggle, her kind and caring heart and her passion for fun in life is truly inspiring!!

So, tomorrow after her last day, we'll start our summer at the pool, with a special "Summer is here" dinner and some icecream on the porch for dessert! Yay for summer-- and Yay for my big girl!

(And to really kick off her summer, Wednesday night her dad is taking her to see the Jonas Brothers at the Pepsi Center.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! We love you Kevin, Joe (Kai's fave) & Nick (my fave-although he's 1/2 my age)!!)
