After an all day event celebrating Kelly's nephew's 3rd birthday with his family Saturday (which was a blast!!) Kaileigh and I had a great time on our own Sunday-- we had a girls day :) First we started with getting ready for church & saying good bye to the boys (Kelly & Willie). We journeyed on to The Egg & I (love that place!!). I had my absolute favorite Raspberry Granola Pancake with eggs on the side, and Kai had her favorite happy face pancake also with eggs on the side. We had fun playing games on her place mat before our food came...talked about "life" from a 5-year old perspective. We then headed off to church where she LOVES to sing the new songs they teach her and on the way home in the car we always take turns sharing what we learned. This week she told me all about the "B-I-B-L-E" song and that with Jesus she's a champion... After church we came home, had a healthy snack/lunch of "gracamole", apples & cheese and headed off to "Arts on Fire".
It's a local pottery painting store where you design your art and they glaze it for you. We LOVE going and the only excuse I could think of this time (and it will keep us busy with return visits) is to get Mother's day gifts going... We had a GREAT time- and I had a big "ah ha" moment.... even though I paid for the gifts...this is HER gift to her grandmas. I kept finding myself wanting to help her make it look perfect or fix her stencilling... and then the nice teenage girl working there reminded me--"they will love it no matter what b/c she painted it; it's supposed to look like a 5 year old did it-- she's 5!!". I felt so bad.... I'm not even a perfectionist but I found myself wanting it to look "just right". Next time I'll have to get my own piece to paint and just let her go to town :) After the painting we brought some coffee to a friends house to play for a little while. Kai told me she'd love to play with Ethan so that their "mommies could talk about Arbonne b/c you love talking about Arbonne!" How sweet of her... for dinner it was at the coffee table watching the Dog Whisperer and Dogtown before playing Polly Pocket, reading books and heading to bed.... Man I wish I was 5 again-- good thing I have an excuse to act like I am! :)
