Thankful...

We spent the night before (Hosting) Thanksgiving with some friends we haven't been able to really spend much time with lately. It was a classic date night- dinner & a movie :) We met up with Tim & Missy at Outback, followed with "The Blind Side" which I loved. Dinner was great but unfortunately Missy got violently ill and had to leave the movie :( We need to do it again though.

Thanksgiving morning, we both went to the gym- I went to "Huff & Puff Before You Stuff" for 2 hours with 120 other people for a great Taebo work out! No guilt for all the pie I ate later...haha. When I got home and showered, it was time to get the food going, the table set, and the last minute things I hadn't completed yet. Kelly and I enjoyed Mimosa's while doing these tasks and preparing for our guests to arrive. His mom, Linda, was the first to arrive and although my kitchen is tiny, we were all able to maneuver around and get things done. We decided to deep fry our turkey this year so Kelly was in charge of that-- however-- he can NOT stay out of the kitchen and so I've learned to lazily rely on him coming in and taking over...which means, I don't do as much as I have planned. Bad?? No- not for me anyway! :) It's funny the things he wants to take over....

Lynne, Roger & the boys joined us later for appetizers, dinner and of course- PIE! It's so fun to see how big they've gotten and I'm appreciative we have family near by. It's hard- and always will be- that my family is in TX. But back to the guest we did have, Pierce is approaching the 11 month mark, Hudson is 4 3/4 (although I'm not sure he's counting his age that way like Kai did...) and Roger & Lynne...well, Lynne's older than Kelly & Roger just celebrated his 40th in October. :)

We had a nice time visiting with them of course and playing with the boys. Hudson couldn't wait for Uncle Skeeter to break out the Playstation to play his motorcycle game with him! Uncle Skeeter couldn't wait until all the dishes were done and his kitchen was back in perfect order... hahahahahahahaha...when will he learn? :) And- I should have taken a picture of our fridge! You would think I was expecting 15-20 people!! I have NEVER seen it that full and man am I thankful for all my rubbermaid & tupperware! You could barely see into the fridge!

Amy & Mike joined us later; he spent time with a friend playing for the kids at the Children's Hospital to make their Thanksgiving a little more cheery. What a great guy! When they got there it was about time for the Willbanks to leave, we served them reheated meals (which lets face it can be the BEST way to have it because everything is hot at the same time!) and then all enjoyed pies- rating which ones won. We had a homemade Peanut Butter pie from Atwood, homemade Pecan pie from Kelly's mom, and homemade Apple & Pumpkin pies from Lynne. I have to say, it was hard to choose---- the Peanut Butter pie was AMAZING, but so rich you could only handle a few bites... the Apple Pie- probably my favorite! :) (Usually is...), I'm not typically a Pecan Pie person, but after Mike raved about how amazing it was, I indulged myself and agree- delicious!

We are very blessed to have such great friends and family, plenty of food, and a warm place to enjoy it all together. This is a great time of year to remember that and not take it for granted-- especially with Black Friday being the next day and the kick off to the shopping season!

Kaileigh shared Thanksgiving with her dad's family this year and enjoyed herself as well. She called to tell us all hi and that she loved us-- which of course we're glad she had a great time but missed her being with us. Hudson in particular was not happy to find he was coming to Kai's house and she would not be there to play with him. Those two get along SO great now! Before they left he told me "Tell Kaileigh I was here and I wish she had been here too" It was very sweet :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!
